Ahh…it’s Saturday. I love Saturdays. A slow start to a weekend day, coffee, the news and getting updated on the goings-on in all my social media networks. I have a routine on Saturdays consisting of taking care of the cats (they always come first, don’t they? If they don’t, they sure let you know it!); making coffee, checking email and then begin getting chores and errands done for the day.
So where does writing fit in? Well, unfortunately I’ve noticed of late, I’m in an all ideas, no writing phase. I’m getting ideas all the time for single-titles, series, young adult, light romance, erotic romance…you name it, it’s popping into my brain. But when I sit down to do the hard work, it’s like pulling teeth. Sometimes I roll my eyes, sigh, and think, ‘why can’t these books just write themselves?!’ Well, of course they can’t, so the hard work has to begin. But how do you make your way though such an overwhelming project? I think focus is key. I’ve got to buckle down and focus.
So that’s my mission for the week…set aside at least 10-20 min/per day for the next day to write. Baby steps. And sometimes that’s okay.
I think everyone would agree! The ideas can’t go anywhere if you don’t make the time for them. Bite-sized chunks of time can lead to more.
Baby steps are better than no steps at all! At least that is what I keep telling myself.
